August 25, 2004 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Quad City Mallards News Release

Moline, IL-Quad City Mallards President and General Manager Howard Cornfield today announced the signing of center / right winger Joe Dusbabek (Doos-bob-eck). Dusbabek has played the last four seasons with the Roanoke Express of the ECHL.

The addition of the 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward continues a trend of signings that have seen the Mallards grow bigger, stronger and grittier. Last season in Roanoke, Dusbabek scored 17 goals and added 31 assists for 48 points in 55 games. Dusbabek's strong play in the ECHL earned him a call-up to the American League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers on January 10th.

Dusbabek has played 236 professional hockey games (234 in Roanoke and two last winter with Bridgeport). For his career, Dusbabek has 64 goals and 106 assists for 170 points with 303 penalty minutes. He has never missed the post-season in his pro career.

Prior to joining the pro ranks, Dusbabek spent four years at the University of Notre Dame. The Faribault, Minnesota native played 127 games with the Fighting Irish while recording 26 goals and 49 assists for 75 points.

"Joe competes hard every night and plays a physical game reminiscent of Peter Armbrust," said Cornfield. "We like his toughness, character, desire to win and his leadership skills. He is a huge addition."

The Mallards begin their tenth anniversary season this fall at The MARK of the Quad Cities. Season tickets are available via the Mallards ticket office at (309) 764-7825. For the latest Mallards news and ticket information, visit www.qcmallards.com.
