Fan Favorite, Former Border Cat Returns

PORT HURON-MI- The Port Huron Beacons announce today that they have signed former Border Cat, David Beauregard, after completing a trade for future considerations with the Fort Wayne Komets earlier last week.

Left Wing, David Beauregard, 28, played in Port Huron from 2000-2002 with the now defunct Border Cat team. During his time with the Border Cats, Beauregard scored 83 goals for 148 points in 125 games played. He has spent the past two seasons with the Komets and was an integral part of the Komets 2002-03 Colonial Cup Winning team. Beauregard was named the Rookie of the Year in the 1997-98 season with the CHL's Wichita Thunder.

Another Beacon from the 2003-04 roster makes his return as well. Right Wing, Ian Jacobs, 24, makes his return for a third season in a Beacon sweater. This will be his fifth season all together playing in Port Huron. Jacobs spent two seasons with the Border Cats from 2000-2002. During his tenure with the Border Cats, Jacobs scored 18 goals for 46 points in 123 games played. With the Beacons Jacobs has 18 goals for 31 points in 95 games played, including 4 points in 12 playoff games. Jacobs, whose natural position is Right Wing, can play defense, as it was proven numerous times last season.

In other news, the Beacons announce two additional signings. Defenseman, Chris Cloutier, 21, will be joining the Beacons for his first season of professional hockey. Chris has spent the past five seasons playing in the Junior A level with six different teams. During the 2002-03 season Chris posted an impressive +62 in 48 regular season games and led his team to the finals for the Dudley Hewitt Cup.

Also joining the Beacons this season will be another Defenseman. Chris Sotiropoulos, 24, has played in 101 regular season games at the WHL level. Chris has spent the last three years at the college level, playing for two seasons with the University of British Columbia and one for the University of Calgary. During his time in college Chris has posted 6 points in 50 regular season games.

With the addition of these four players, the Beacons roster expands to 13. Previously the Beacons had signed Aaron Brand, Joe Sewell, Jason Firth, Mat Goody, Josh Tataryn, Jamie Young, Scott Gouthro, Riku Rahikainen and Mark Lindsay.
