Kinston Indians News Release


Last Night - Kinston's offense came to life for nine runs on 14 hits in a 9-2 win over Lynchburg on Saturday night at Grainger Stadium. Eight K-Tribe starters reached safely with a hit, led by Bo Greenwell's 4-for-5 performance. Only Karexon Sanchez All nine K-Tribe runs were scored with two outs. Kinston starting pitching was great again, as Marty Popham struck out a career high ten batters in five innings of work. The strikeouts also matched a season best for a K-Tribe pitcher.

Double Trouble - The Indians pounded out a season-high six doubles in last night's win. Greenwell hit a pair of two-baggers and Ronald Rivas, Chun Chen, Donnie Webb and Kyle Bellows hit one apiece.

Super Starters - The K-Tribe's starting pitchers are on an incredible run of shutting down the opposition. In the past nine games since July 29 at Wilmington, Kinston starters have surrendered just 6 earned runs in 48 1/3 innings for a 1.12 ERA. No earned runs have been allowed by the starters in six of those games, and just one earned run in two of the games. Four of the runs in that stretch were given up by T.J. McFarland in a rain-shortened start on Monday night. The Indians are 5-4 in those nine contests.
