August 25, 2011 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Kinston Indians News Release
Kinston again fell victim to a suddenly hot Keys offense in a 7-2 finale loss in Frederick, MD.
Trailing 1-0 after one, Orioles top prospect Manny Machado added to the K-Tribe hardship with a three run homer to left in the third.
Kinston starter Mike Rayl ran in to more trouble in the fifth inning. Rayl pitched to just four men in the inning, departing after allowing a free pass to Tyler Townsend to load the bases with no one out. Rayl fell to 1-3 with the loss, he allowed six earned runs. Kinston's starter only gets credit for four innings, striking out three men and walking two.
All of Kinston's offense came via the long ball. Adam Abraham homered to put the Indians on the scoreboard first with a solo blast in the third. Abraham's 14th home run was his first since July 9th. Tyler Cannon mashed a towering homer to left with two outs in the sixth, his sixth blast of the year.
The K-Tribe kicks off it's final home stand of the year Friday night against Lynchburg. First pitch at Grainger Stadium is set for 6:30 pm.
