Kinston Indians News Release

The K-Tribe took advantage of three big Myrtle Beach errors, going on to beat the Pelicans 6-4 Sunday night in South Carolina.

Kinston led 1-0 going into the top of the fourth inning, when two errors, two walks and two balks led to four K-Tribe runs. Three of the four runs were unearned. Pelican starter Cole Rohrbough (2-2) was the tough luck loser for Myrtle Beach. Lucas Montero and Johnny Drennen each had two hits for Kinston. Kinston stole four bases on the night, tying a season high.

K-Tribe starter Jeanmar Gomez (5-9) continues to throw well, picking up his fifth win of the season. Gomez gave up just two earned runs while striking out four in six innings. Gomez had a great last month and a half of the season, as the 20-year-old starter did not give up more than two earned runs in any of his last nine starts. Josh Judy came in from the pen for his second hold of the season, Vinnie Pestano picked up save number nine.

The Kinston Indians (72-65) were eliminated from any chance of the post season earlier in the week; their final game of the 2008 season will take place on Monday at Myrtle Beach. K-Tribe starter Shawn Nottingham will take the mound for the 7:05 pm start.
