Justin Nichols Named Hy-Grade Steel Roofing Player of the Week

The Guelph Storm announced today that goaltender Justin Nichols is the HY GRADE STEEL ROOFING Player of the Week for the week ending January 20, 2014. This is Nichols' second Player of the Week honour during the month of January.

Nichols was terrific in net for the Storm this past week winning all three contests and posting a goals against average of 0.67 and a save percentage of 0.978. After holding Kitchener to one goal in Friday's 4-1 victory over the Rangers, Nichols shut out the Erie Otters on Saturday night on the road to help the Storm to a 1-0 win before allowing just one goal in Sunday's 6-1 win over Kingston. Before the Frontenacs' third period goal on Sunday, Nichols was riding a 129:08 minute shutout streak. The St. Catharine's native was named the third star of the game in Erie on Saturday and the first star on Sunday against the Frontenacs.

Nichols currently has a record of 25-4-1-0 with a 2.70 goals against average and a 0.924 save percentage. With his third shutout of the season on Saturday, the 18 year old leads the OHL in wins, sits 3rd in save percentage and 6th in goals against average.

Next up, the Storm face a home and home against the Owen Sound Attack on Friday and Saturday with Friday's match up played at the Sleeman Centre. Sunday, they take on the red hot Saginaw Spirit at 6:30pm. Tickets are available for both games and can be purchased by calling or visiting the Guelph Storm Box Office at 519-837-9690.
