Saginaw Spirit Fall for First Time in Seven Games Monday

The Saginaw Spirit visited the Plymouth Whalers at the Compuware Arena Monday, January 20th and fell to the opposition 7-2.

The Whalers got the ball rolling with a goal scored by Connor Chatham from Francesco Vilardi at 6:43 to start the game. Only 4 minutes later, Connor Chatham scored again on a power play from Connor Sills and Mathieu Henderson. Moments later the Whalers found the net again on an unassisted goal by Alex Peters at 12:56. At 14:50 Connor Sills scored a shorthanded goal, the Whalers fourth goal of the game, from Cullen Mercer.

The second period started on a Whalers goal scored off the stick of Francesco Vilardi from Cullen Mercer from Alex Peters at 2:00. After nearly 15 minutes of goalless play, the Spirit recorded their first goal of the night off the Stick of Cody Payne from Dylan Sadowy and Daniel De Sousa at 16:32. Only 13 seconds later, the Whalers replied with a goal scored by Cullen Mercer from Connor Chatham.

The third period went through 13 minutes of offensive play that gave to the Whalers advantage as they scored off the stick of Matt Mistele at 13:08. Cody Payne scored the Spirit's second goal, on his knees, from Dylan Sadowy at 16:40.

Catch the Spirit! - The Spirit will continue on the road with a stop in North Bay on Thursday, January 23rd at 7:00pm. The Spirit will play again at home on Friday, January 31st against the Belleville Bulls at The Dow Event Center at 7:11 pm.
