August 24, 2004 - Appalachian League (ApL)
Danville Otterbots News Release
DANVILLE â With two home runs in last night's game against the Kingsport Mets at Hunter Wright Stadium in Kingsport, Tenn., outfielder Mark Jurich set a new single-season home run record for the Danville Braves.
Jurich entered the game with 12 home runs, which left him tied with Ray McWhite for the most home runs in a single season in D-Braves history. McWhite set the mark during the 1996 season.
The Louisville, KY native broke the record with a first inning solo shot off Mets starter Jeff Landing and added to his mark with a two-run blast in the eighth inning off Mets reliever Julio Freites.
Jurich's 14 home runs are second to only Mitch Einertson of Greeneville, who has hit 22 this season.
