Jupiter Ends Homestand with Impressive Win

JUPITER, FL - The Hammerheads finished a rough homestand on a high note with an impressive performance on Tuesday night. The Sharks combined to strikeout a season-high 15 and the offense collected double digit hits for the third straight game as Jupiter beat St. Lucie 6-4.

Austin Brice made the start for the Hammerheads and he was dealing to start the game as he struck out the side in the first inning. Although he would pitch just five innings, Brice ended up tying a career high with nine K's in the game. He picked up his fifth win of the season.

The offense also got off to a hot start on Tuesday. Christian Yelich led off the game with a single, stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. Viosergy Rosa then fought off an inside pitch for a bloop single to shallow left to give the Sharks a 1-0 lead.

After Colin Moran singled between short and third, Jesus Solorzano drove in a pair when he sliced a triple to right. Ryan Rieger would then drive in Solorzano when he singled up the box.

The Mets would get on the board in the third but Jupiter would get the run back in the bottom half when Moran hit a single, stole second and scored when Rieger hit a single to left.

In the fourth Justin Bohn, who was playing in his first game for Jupiter after getting called up on Tuesday, hit a two-out single and stole second. Rosa would follow with a RBI single to make it 6-1.

The bullpen also had a strong night for Jupiter as Brian Ellington struck out a season-high five batters and Casey McCarthy and Reid Redman each tossed 1-2-3 innings. Redman earned his fourth save in the win.

The Hammerheads will begin a hit the road for the first time since June 7th as they will start a three game set with Bradenton on Wednesday. The Sharks will return home on Saturday to begin a three game series with the Charlotte Stone Crabs.

NOTES: In his second rehab game Yelich finished 1-for-4 with a single and a run scored. He batted leadoff and played six innings in center field.
