Junior Zamora bashes Cutters to 10-7 win over Brockton

WEST HAVEN, CT- Third baseman Junior Zamora homered twice (2, 3), doubled and drove in five runs to lead the New Haven County Cutters to a 10-7 victory, Saturday night, over the Brockton Rox in the final game of a three-game series at Historic Yale Field.

Zamora's first blast was a two-run shot in the first inning that put the Cutters ahead, 2-1. His double in the third inning scored two more runs and returned the lead back to the Cutters, 4-3.

With the game tied in the fifth inning, Zamora handed the lead back to the Cutters one more time with a tremendous solo home run to left field that set the score at 5-4.

Designated hitter Mike Leonard extended the Cutters' advantage to 7-4 with a two-run single in the sixth inning.

The Cutters took advantage of two errors and two wild pitches to score two more times in the eighth inning to open up a 10-5 lead.

Cutters' starter RHP Joslin Ramirez (2-0) struggled earlier but found his composure to go 5.2 innings and allow four runs to earn the win.

Rox' starter Gary Galvez (1-1) was touched for six earned runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings and took the defeat.

Rox' second baseman Eugene Julien was 2-for-3 with a home run (1) and two RBI and first baseman Francisco Lebron was 2-for-2 with a double.

The Cutters and Rox meet for just one game in Brockton, Sunday, at Campanelli Stadium. Game time is 1:05 pm.
