Jungle Kats Relinquish Lead, Fall To Blizzard 48-38

Green Bay, WISCONSIN - The Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-6) held an impressive 31-7 advantage five minutes into the second quarter; however, the Green Bay Blizzard (4-3) outscored the Kats 41-7 the rest of the way en route to a 48-38 victory in front of 5,025 at Resch Center on Friday night. Blizzard quarterback Zeke Dixon completed 18 of 31 for 257 yards and 5 touchdowns while Cincinnati signal caller Aaron Marshall tossed 21 of 42, 251 yards and three touchdowns in a losing effort.

The Kats came out on fire in the first quarter, putting up a pair of touchdowns in the first 4 minutes of regulation. The newest Kats wide receiver Jay Holbrook caught a 31-yard TD pass from Kats QB Aaron Marshall to make it 7-0 Kats. On the ensuing kickoff, the Kats were able to add to the scoreboard as Hassan Brockman stole the live ball off the screen and fell on it in the endzone, extending the Cincinnati lead to 14.

Green Bay answered the bell, however, as Blizzard signal caller Zeke Dixon tossed an 8-yard strike to Kellen Allen, pulling the home team within a touchdown, 14-7. The Kats added another 17 points to their first half tally, while the Blizzard made it a game of things with a pair of touchdowns making it 31-21 Cincinnati at the break.

In the second half, though, the Blizzard continued to pour it on, tallying a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter to take their first lead of the ballgame at 35-31. Green Bay would extend their lead to 10 points early in the fourth quarter, 41-31 but Hassan Brockman ran the ensuing kickoff 54 yards for the score, putting Cincinnati within a field goal. After the special teams spark, the Blizzard went back to work, as Dixon connected a 4th down pass with his wide receiver, a 25-yard touchdown strike to Danny Donaldson, sealing a 48-38 victory.

The Kats will return home for Memorial Day Weekend as they host the Alabama Steeldogs at U.S. Bank Arena next Saturday night, kicking off at 7:30pm.
