Cincinnati Jungle Kats News Release
Jungle Kats 33, STEAMWHEELERS 83
MOLINE, Illinois - It was another second half stumble for the Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-14) as they were shutout in the second half by the Quad City Steamwheelers (9-6) and fell by an 83-33 final score in front of 3,516 at I-Wireless Center in Moline, Illinois. Scott Jefferies finished 13-of-19 for 208 yards and 5 TD's before being knocked out of the football game with a neck injury. His counterpart, J.J. Raterink, threw 21-for-28, 224 yards and 8 TD's.
Both teams were on an offensive roll early in the contest, as the teams combined for 76 first half points, with the Steamwheelers leading through one half of football. Quad City quarterback J.J. Raterink tossed 5 TD passes in the opening half, 4 of which went to wide receiver Kris Peters. The Kats were led through the air by Derin Graham, who hauled in a pair of scoring passes and 103 yards, as Cincinnati trailed it 43-33 at the break.
Shortly after play resumed in the third quarter, Scott Jefferies was tackled by Jermaine Petty just shy of the goal-line, injuring the Kats signal caller. He was rolled out on a stretcher and taken to a local hospital for precautionary tests on the neck injury. When play resumed, just like in weeks past, the Jungle Kats shutdown offensively. The âWheelers added 40 points to their final totals in the second half, while the Kats were shutout in both the third and fourth quarters for the first time this season. Quad City's Tom Anthony grabbed 10 catches for 104 yards and 1 TD while his teammate Kris Peters grabbed 5 scoring strikes.
The Jungle Kats close out their Inaugural Season next Saturday, July 28th, when they will take on the Alabama Steeldogs at 8:00pm ET from BJCC Arena.
