Manchester Wolves News Release
MANCHESTER WOLVES VS. ALBANY CONQUEST July 21, at 7:05 pm
TIMES UNION CENTER, ALBANY, NY
WOLVES (8-6) vs. CONQUEST (5-9)
......................................................
It'll be almost one year later to the date, but the stakes will still be the same for both teams, as the Manchester Wolves will be vying for a coveted playoff spot while the Albany Conquest look to play the spoiler when the two squads faceoff this Saturday July 21, at 7:00 p.m. in Albany, NY.
Last season the Wolves entered the matchup with an 7-7 record while the Conquest were out of the playoff picture at 5-9. The game ended up going down to the last few seconds as Conquest kicker Vinny Cirrincione missed a 29-yard potential game-winning attempt that sailed wide left, the Wolves won 51-50 and advanced to the playoffs.
This will be the 18th all-time battle between the Wolves and Conquest franchises with Manchester holding the 10-7 edge. The Wolves have won both challenges against their East Division rival this season back on May 11 (53-48) and June 8 (47-35), both were played on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester where the Wolves have won six of their seven games this year. However now the Wolves will have to travel to New York's Times Union Center where the Conquest have claimed all five of their wins this season.
"Going to Albany is a scary situation for us. They are a very talented team who has nothing to lose," said Wolves Head Coach Ben Bennett. "They will do everything they can under the sun to try to knock us off. We really need to stay focused."
The Wolves will look to repeat last year's winning effort and travel back home at 9-6 to face the Florida Firecats on Brady Sullivan Field on July 28th to close the regular season.

AIR FORCE RECRUITING SERVICE TO PRESENT THE MANCHESTER WOLVES WITH THE 2007 AMERICAN SPIRIT AWARD
..........................................................................................................
Brigadier General Suzanne M. "Zan" Vautrinot To Be On Hand July 28th
The Manchester Wolves are pleased to announce that Brigadier General Suzanne M. Vautrinot, from the Air Force Recruiting Service, will be on hand for July 28th battle against the Florida Firecats to present the Wolves with the command's prestigious American Spirit Award.
The American Spirit Award is Air Force Recruiting Service's highest form of recognition. Started in 1980, it recognizes civilian organizations that have consistently displayed outstanding support of Air Force recruiting efforts as well as exhibition of patriotism and service to the country. Past award recipients include Bob Hope, Rudolph Giuliani, Dolly Parton, Ted Turner and the Dallas Cowboys football team. The Wolves won the award along with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League.
"Both the Colts and the Wolves organizations have shown incredible continued support to the Air Force and to our recruiting efforts," said Brigade General Suzanne Vautrinot, AFRS commander. "They are to be applauded for their sustained excellence both on the field and in their communities."
Manchester, which competes in the af2, engineered a multi-faceted Air Force marketing campaign using print, radio, audiovisual and promotional products. Allowing nearly unlimited access to Air Force recruiters at all home games, the Wolves incorporated the Air Force into all of its programs, including its "Stay in School" community project and Delayed Entry Program ceremonies.
The Air Force and Vautrinot will present the Wolves with the prestigious award before the kickoff of their July 28 game, entitled "Fan Appreciation Night", against the Firecats on Brady Sullivan Field at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:05 p.m. Josh Logan will also be on hand to entertain the crowd as he'll perform some of his newest songs during halftime.
