Cincinnati Jungle Kats News Release

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama - The Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-15) were unable to pick up multiple wins in 2007, as they drop the final game of the season to the Alabama Steeldogs (7-9) by a 51-21 count in front of 9,335 at BJCC Arena in Birmingham, Alabama on Saturday night. With the victory over Cincinnati, teamed with a Lubbock victory over the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgs, the Steeldogs clinched a spot in the af2 postseason. Cincinnati's signal caller Scott Jefferies finished 21-of-44, throwing for 170 yards and 2 TD's in a losing effort, while his counterpart Mitch Tanney threw 14 of 18 for 132 yards and 4 scoring strikes.

The Jungle Kats once again fell behind in the first half, getting shutout in the first quarter 21-0 and trailed it 35-15 at the break. Steeldogs wide receiver Bradley Chavez hauled in a pair of TD passes while Mitch Tanney threw for 91 yards, 3 TD's, and ran for a score of his own. Cincinnati could only muster 87 yards of offense in the first half, as Scott Jefferies completed 14 of 26 passes for 104 yards and a touchdown strike to Desmond Washington. Cincinnati trailed at halftime for the 14th time in 16 games.

In the second half, the Jungle Kats once again lost momentum; Alabama outscored Cincinnati 16-6 in the third quarter while both teams hit an offensive stalemate in the final frame, with both teams failing to score.

With the Inaugural Season in the books for Cincinnati, the Kats will thank their loyal season ticket holders on August 2nd with a "Fan Appreciation Night" - being held at Gameday Café on Pete Rose Way from 6pm-10pm. Also at Season Ticket Holder Appreciation Night, the remaining Autographed Footballs will be delivered.
