May 18, 2007- The Spokane Shock announced today that QB Justin Rummell has been assigned to their 2007 roster by the League Office. In another roster move, the Shock placed QB Chivalrick Daughtry on recallable reassignment.
Rummell, 6'2' 220, was recently released from mini-camp with the Detroit Lions after completing a decorated career at Earlham College in 2006. Over his four-year career, he played in 42 games, completed 58% of his passes with 76 touchdowns, and a set an NCAC record in total offense (9,341 yards). In his senior season, he set school records in pass attempts (397), completions (226), passing yards (2706) and touchdowns (26).
"Justin is a player with a lot of upside," Head Coach Adam Shackleford said. "He's a good player and a great person."
Rummell will assume the back-up QB position and will travel with the team this weekend to Boise as the Shock take on the Burn. The Burn are currently on top of the division with a 4-2 record, while the Shock are in a three-way tie for second place. Kick-off is at 6 PM (PST) and can be heard on 105.7 THE BUZZARD with Larry Weir calling the action.
