Cincinnati Jungle Kats News Release
FORT WAYNE, Indiana - The Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-11) once again stumbled in the second half against the division-rival Fort Wayne Fusion (5-8) as they fell by a 47-25 score at Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana on Saturday night. Fort Wayne wide receiver Cesare Manning had a solid day, hauling in 3 TD catches while Cincinnati's Derin Graham grabbed 9 passes for 87 yards and 2 scores in a losing effort.
Cincinnati got a rare bounce right out of the gate, as in the first possession, Kamau Jackson recovered a fumble in the endzone to give the Kats a 6-0 lead. However, the Fusion would respond in a big way, scoring 17 unanswered points in the following minutes.
Trailing by 11 in the second quarter, the Jungle Kats tallied a pair of touchdowns to regain a slim lead, 19-17. But the Fusion got a great return from Virgil Morris followed by a 32-yard strike from Fort Wayne quarterback Joe Micco to Jonathan Graham to jump back on top at the half, 24-19.
In the third quarter both teams hit an offensive impasse, as neither side could score. However, in the fourth quarter, Fort Wayne's offense came alive while Cincinnati's did not. The Fusion outscored the Kats 23-6 in the final quarter, including a pair of TD catches for wide receiver Cesare Manning, as Fort Wayne picked up the 47-25 win.
The Kats return to U.S. Bank Arena for the final two home games of the 2007 season beginning next Saturday, July 7th, when they battle Manchester Wolves at 7:30pm.
