Cincinnati Jungle Kats News Release

CINCINNATI, Ohio - Despite another solid 1st half of football, the Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-12) were unable to hold on against the Manchester Wolves (7-6), as they fall by a 54-34 final score at U.S. Bank Arena on Saturday Night. Although he did not start the game, new Kats quarterback Scott Jefferies played solid, completing 22 of 29 passes for 281 yards and 3 TD's. His counterpart, Mark Radlinski, threw 22 of 34 for 234 yards and 5 TD's.

After recovering a Jungle Kats fumble on the game's very first possession, Manchester jumped out front early when David Bailey hauled in a short TD pass from Wolves QB Mark Radlinski making it 7-0. They made it 14-0 just moments later, after a failed Jungle Kats drive, as Ari Confesor snagged his team-leading 21st touchdown, a 15-yard grab, with 6:48 left in the opening quarter.

Early in the second, Manchester continued to drive on Cincinnati, marching 31 yards downfield - adding another 7 points on the board with less than a minute gone when Ari Confesor hauled in his second TD of the game. Down by a 21-0 count, Cincinnati made a change at quarterback, bringing in rookie signal caller Scott Jefferies - and it paid off. Jefferies led his team 48 yards downfield, including a 1-yard TD rush - his first as a professional - making it 21-7 Manchester.

The Kats continued to claw back thanks to an interception from Kats DB George Williams, and a 29-yard pass from Jefferies to James Lewis, putting Cincinnati within one score, 21-14. Manchester would threaten late in the half, sitting with a 1st and goal on the Kats 3-yard line, but Cincinnati's much-maligned defense stood tall, keeping the visitors from scoring before the break.

On the opening drive of the second half, Manchester would regain the two possession lead when Radlinski threw his third TD pass of the game, finding Patrick Rouzard in the endzone, making it 27-14 Wolves. Once again, though, Jefferies and the Kats would respond; Cincinnati completed a 31-yard drive, capped off by Scott Jefferies' second rushing TD of the game, setting a season-high in that category, pulling the Kats within 6 points.

However, back-and-forth football continued as, on the ensuing drive, Radlinski and Rouzard hooked up again for a 29-yard score and a 34-21 lead. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Wolves full back Adam Fichter carried the ball 1-yard for the score, completing the 27-yard scoring drive, making it 41-21 Manchester. With just under 8-minutes left, Fichter took the ball into the endzone again, rushing 7-yards for his second TD of the game, making it 47-21. The Kats would add a pair of TD's in the final quarter, and Manchester added another to cap off the scoring, 54-34.

The Kats will host their final home game in 2007 next Saturday night when they will take on the division-rival Green Bay Blizzard at 7:30pm from U.S. Bank Arena.
