Norfolk Tides News Release
Eric Junge did not allow an earned run in 7.0 innings of work, pitching the Tides past the Ottawa Lynx 4-1 Thursday night.
Junge (4-3) allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out four as the Tides improved to 15-8 at Harbor Park this year. He retired the side in order in five different innings, allowing just an unearned run in the top of the 5th inning.
The Tides (27-21) jumped out to an early lead, as Angel Pagan led off the bottom of the 1st inning with a solo home run - his fourth of the season. With the home run, Pagan matched the career-high he set in 2004 with Double-A Binghamton.
Norfolk added another run in the fourth inning on an RBI double by Craig Brazell, and added two insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th inning on a two-run single by Victor Diaz.
Blake McGinley followed Junge's sterling effort with a scoreless 8th inning, and David Lee pitched a 1-2-3 9th inning for his first save of the year.
The Tides take on the Lynx again Friday night at Harbor Park, with Tides' left-hander Neal Musser (1-2, 6.85) scheduled to take on Ottawa right-hander Dave Borkowski (3-5, 4.34).
