
Harmon Killebrew Returns To Charlotte

FORT MILL, SC -- The Charlotte Knights, Kingsford Charcoal and Butcher's Brand Beef, exclusively at Food Lion, are pleased to announce Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew will return to his roots and make an appearance at the Charlotte Knights game Friday, May 27.
A media press conference for all local media will be held in the Castle Room located on the 3rd floor of Knights Stadium prior to the game tomorrow. The question and answer session will begin at promptly at 6:00 p.m.
Killebrew, a former Charlotte Hornet standout, is scheduled to address the Knights Stadium crowd prior to the 7:15 p.m. start of the game and throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Killebrew will then sign autographs for fans at the Discovery Place autograph booth located on the first base-side concourse. There is a one-piece-per-person limit.
In 1956, his one season with the Charlotte Hornets, Killebrew batted .325 with 15 home runs and 63 RBIs. Elected into the Hall of Fame in 1984, Killebrew's 573 career home runs place him fifth on the all-time list and second only to Babe Ruth among American League sluggers. In his 22-year career with the Washington Senators, Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals, Killebrew tied or led the league in home runs six times, hit 40 or more home runs on eight occasions, and knocked in 100 or more home runs nine times.
In addition to the visit from Killebrew, the Knights will hold an arm care clinic prior to the start of the game for all coaches and youth league players. The clinic will be run by Knights team doctors from Ortho Carolina as well as their training staff.
