Last time out
The Slammers grabbed an early 3-0 lead on a Kyle Maunus three-run home run but the Boomers scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good in a 6-3 defeat for Joliet. Steve McQuail started the inning with a lead-off walk then advanced to second on a wild pitch and eventually to third on a passed ball. Brian McConkey batted McQuail home on a RBI single, cutting Joliet's lead to 3-1. Ty Nelson followed by sending McConkey home on a RBI double making it a 3-2 ballgame. Mike Valadez reached safely on a fielder's choice and both Valadez and McConkey would eventually score in the inning giving the Boomers a 4-3 lead. Joliet was held scoreless in the top of the fifth inning but in the bottom of the frame McQuail gave Schaumburg a 5-3 lead with a solo home run. Both sides held each other scoreless through the next two innings but in the eighth the Boomers added an insurance run.
For Starters...
Evan Anundsen gets the call for Joliet today. He is coming off a victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts on June 4 where he went six innings, giving up only one run in an 8-1 victory for Joliet. The 25-year old from Littleton, Colorado was a fourth round selection of the Milwaukee Brewers in the 2006 draft out of Columbine High School. He spent the past seven seasons pitching in the Milwaukee organization and started 24 games for the Double-A Huntsville Stars in 2012. Anundsen's best season as a professional came in 2009 when he posted a 2.69 ERA in 23 starts for the High Single-A Brevard County Manatees.
