TONIGHT: The Mudcats begin a four game (three day) home stand today with a doubleheader and games one and two of a four game series versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at Five County Stadium. Today's twin-bill marks the 18th and 19th of 21 total meetings between the two teams this season. The Mudcats lead the season series 9-8 after going 6-5 in Myrtle Beach and currently a 3-3 record at home vs. the Pelicans.

ICYMI: Last night's road trip and series finale between the Mudcats and Hillcats in Lynchburg was suspended in the top of the sixth inning with Carolina leading 5-0. The game will resume as part of a doubleheader on a yet-to-be-determined date at Five County Stadium in Zebulon.

STARTING OFF: Game 1: RHP Alec Bettinger has the game one start for the Mudcats in today's doubleheader. Bettinger enters today's outing at 1-1 with a 2.78 ERA over five games and four starts with Carolina. He has also totaled 25 strikeouts, five walks and a .226 average against over 22.2 innings since joining the Mudcats from Low-A Wisconsin on June 16. Bettinger's first Carolina League start came in Myrtle Beach on June 16 and saw him total a career high 10 strikeouts over 6.0 innings pitched... Game 2: The Carolina League's ERA leader Conor Harber (2.23 ERA) has tonight's game two start versus Myrtle Beach. Harber is currently 2-3 with a 1.87 ERA over nine starts (43.1 IP, 29 H, 9 R, 9 ER, 18 BB, 25 SO). He is also 2-1 with a 2.61 ERA over 14 games in relief this season (41.1 IP, 33 H, 13 R, 12 ER, 25 BB, 40 SO).

WHERE THEY RANK: RHP Conor Harber is currently 1st in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.23) and in batting average against (.209)... LHP Cam Roegner is currently 2nd in the Carolina League in earned run average (2.26), 3rd in innings pitched (103.1), tied for 3rd in wins (8), 4th in WHIP (1.16) and 3rd among starters in fewest baserunners/9ip (10.71)... RHP Braden Webb is currently 4th in the CL in strikeouts (93). Webb is also tied for 3rd in the CL in most walks (50), 4th among CL starters in lowest batting average against (.241) and 4th among starters in highest SO/9ip ratio (9.10)... RHP Luke Barker leads the Carolina League in saves (15), games (35) and games finished (27). Barker is also tied for 3rd among CL relievers in lowest batting average (.193), 5th in highest strikeouts/9ip (9.06) and 5th in lowest BB/9ip ratio (2.08).

STELLAR D: Weston Wilson has been charged with only three errors this season and owns an overall .993 fielding percentage while playing 36 games at 1B, 13 games at 2B, 14 games at 3B, 2 games at SS, 25 games in LF and 9 games in RF this season... The Mudcats are currently 2nd in the CL in both team fielding (.978) and team caught stealing efficiency (.398).

OF LATE: The Mudcats are currently 6-8 over their last 14 games and since seeing their season high five winning streak (7/2-7/6) come to an end on July 7.

TOPS IN JULY: Weston Wilson is batting .403/.442/.636 in July and is currently 2nd in the CL in OPS (1.078) this month. Wilson is also 1st in the CL in average (.403), 2nd in hits (31), 3rd in RBI (21) and 3rd in total bases (49) in July... Cooper Hummel is batting .295/.442/.574 in July and is currently 4th in the CL in OPS (1.015) this month. Hummel is also tied for 2nd in extra-base hits (11), tied for 1st in doubles (8), tied for 2nd in walks (15) and 3rd in OBP in .442 this month... Conor Harber is 1-1 with a 1.59 ERA over four starts in July and is 2nd in the CL in ERA (1.59) this month.

MUDDIES ON THE POND: The Carolina offense is currently last in the CL when batting with runners on base (.236 / .671 OPS), last when batting with runners in scoring position (.233 / .680 OPS), 7th when batting with runners in scoring position with 2-outs in an inning. (.225 / .682 OPS) and 8th when batting with the bases loaded (.195 / .570 OPS).

HITS AND Ks: The Carolina offense has totaled 171 more strikeouts than hits (943 SO, 772 H) so far this season. Carolina's difference in strikeouts over hits is currently the 6th largest in MiLB. Since 1991, only the 2017 and 2007 Mudcats have finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. Carolina totaled 164 more strikeouts than hits in 2017 (1,245 SO [franchise record], 1,081 H) and 70 more strikeouts than hits in 2007 (1,219 SO, 1,149 H).

ALL THE Ks: The Mudcats offense has combined to total a CL high 943 strikeouts this season (on pace for 1,320 SO). The Carolina offense struck out a Carolina League and franchise record 1,245 times last season. The previous league record (per the 2017 Carolina League Media Guide) was 1,198 strikeouts and was set by the 1990 Lynchburg Hillcats.
