TONIGHT: The Mudcats conclude a four game road trip tonight with game four of a four game series versus the Myrtle Beach Pelicans at TicketReturn.Com Field in Myrtle Beach, SC. Tonight's game is the 18th of 21 total meetings between the two teams this season. Carolina lost last night's game 6-3, allowing the Pelicans to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
ICYMI: Myrtle Beach starter Rollie Lacy struck out seven in his Carolina League debut, Wladimir Galindo went 2-for-4 with two runs and both Andruw Monasterio and Roberto Caro drove in two as the Pelicans defeated the Mudcats for the second straight night 6-3 at TicketReturn.Com Field on Wednesday night.
ABOUT THE LAST ONE: Carolina totaled nine hits last night, with all nine going for singles as they were held without an extra-base hit. It was the 12th time this season that the Mudcats did not have an extra-base hit in a game. Carolina's season high for most hits in a game without an extra-base hit is 11 (11 singles) and came on June 22 at Buies Creek.
STARTING OFF: RHP Braden Webb has tonight's series finale start in Myrtle Beach against the Pelicans. Webb is currently 5-6 with a 3.58 ERA and has also totaled 79 strikeouts, 45 walks and a .223 average against over 16 starts and 78.0 innings this season. He last pitched on July 7 against Frederick and ended up taking a tough luck home loss after allowing two runs on five hits over 6.0 innings pitched. He also walked two and struck out two while working through a quality start his last time out.

RHP Braden Webb is currently 5th in the CL in most strikeouts (79), 2nd among CL starters in lowest batting average against (.223) and 2nd in highest SO/9ip ratio (9.12)... INF Tucker Neuhaus is 2nd among CL hitters in most strikeouts (106), is 6th in extra-base hits (31) and is tied for 3rd in triples (5)... OF Ryan Aguilar is currently 2nd in the CL in triples (7)... RHP Luke Barker is currently tied for CL lead in saves (12). Barker is also 2nd in the CL in games (30), tied for 2nd in games finished (23), 3rd among CL relievers in lowest batting average (.179), 3rd in lowest BB/9ip ratio (1.90) and 1st in fewest baserunners/9ip ratio (7.59).
LATE LOSSES: Carolina has a league high 10 losses when leading after six innings this season. They have also totaled a league worst seven losses when leading after seven innings.
OF LATE: The Mudcats have gone 16-9 over their last 25 games and have combined to pitch to a 3.00 ERA while also owning a +7 run differential since June 14 (game one of a five game series in Myrtle Beach)... During that same span the Carolina offense has combined to hit just .237 with an average of 3.68 runs per game (since 6/14). Since 1991, only the 2017 and 2007 Mudcats have finished a season with more strikeouts than hits. The previous league record (per the 2017 Carolina League Media Guide) was 1,198 strikeouts and was set in 1990 by the Lynchburg Hillcats.
INTRA-DIV: The Mudcats are currently just 30-38 in games against Southern Division opponents and own the Carolina League's second worst in division winning percentage (.441) this season. Carolina, however, currently 16-6 (.727) over 22 games against Northern Division (vs. FRE: 6-2, vs. LYN: 2-1, .vs WIL: 5-2, vs. SAL: 3-1) teams this season and own the CL's best winning percentage in games outside their own division. The Mudcats have 26 games remaining against CL Northern Division teams this season.
