Juice Winning Streak Hits Six

July 12, 2007 - Aiken, SC- The Bradenton Juice did not score often on Thursday night against the Aiken Foxhounds but they did score enough as the Juice won the series opener 2-1. Bradenton got a solid starting pitching performance from Pat Ford and Aiken stranded 11 base runners en route to losing for the 3rd time in the second half of the season.

Aiken scored first in the 5th inning with Reinaldo Ramirez leading off with a bunt single and pitcher Anthony Telford followed with a bunt single. Scott Houin followed by hitting into a fielder's choice and two batters later Chad Miller smacked a singe to left field driving home Ramirez putting the Foxhounds up 1-0.

The Juice took the lead in the Bottom of the 7th with Eddie Kim leading off with a double to right field. Three batters later Brenan Hererra smacked a single to left field that drove in Kim from 2nd base tying the game at 1. On the play Hererra advanced to 2nd base on the throw home and Zach Woodward followed by hitting a ball to shortstop Reinaldo Ramirez but his throw to 1st base sailed over the head of the first baseman allowing Hererra to score giving the Juice a 2-1 lead.

Bradenton held on for the victory despite the leadoff man in the 9th inning Tim Sweeney getting to 3rd base with 0 outs. Aiken stranded 11 runners on base including 8 runners in scoring position with less than 2 outs.

Pat Ford (2-1) got the win for Juice going 6 innings allowing 1 run (earned) on 7 hits, walking 3 and striking out 4 batters. Anthony Telford (1-3) pitched well but did not get much run support as he took the loss going 7 innings, allowing 2 runs (1 earned) on 5 hits, walking 0 and striking out 8.

The Juice remain atop the South Coast League standings with a 4-0 record in the second half and 28-20 overall. The Juice also have the longest current winning streak in the league having won 6 straight. Aiken is now 3-14 over its past 17 games and 0-3 in the second half and 22-26 overall.

Of note for the Juice Julius Thames went 2-3 with 2 singles and Brenan Hererra went 2-4 with 2 singles, an RBI, and he scored a run as well.
