Bradenton Juice News Release
Macon, GA- The Bradenton Juice bounced back from losing a doubleheader on Wednesday by knocking off the Macon Music in 10 innings on Thursday by a score of 5-4 in 10 innings. Luke Palmer started and did very well on the mound for the Juice helping Bradenton win the ballgame in dramatic fashion.
The Juice started the scoring in the 1st inning with Luke Barganier hitting a one-out double to right field and Al Corbeil followed by hitting a two-run homerun over the right field wall, his team-leading 10th of the season.
Macon cut the Juice lead in half in the Top of the 6th when Casey Garrison led off with a double to left field and three batters later Jeff Timmons smacked a double to left field plating Garrison.
The Music went on to take the lead in the 7th with K.J. Hendricks drawing a two-out walk and with Dorian Rojas at the plate Hendricks stole second base and moved to third on an error on the throw to second base. A few pitches later Hendricks scored on a wild pitch tying the game at 2. Rojas then walked and after he stole second base Casey Garrison doubled to left field driving home Rojas putting the Music up 3-2.
Bradenton tied the game in the Bottom of the 8th when with two outs Brenan Hererra walked and Nick Corbeil followed by drawing a walk. Then pinch hitter Jean Castro hit a shallow fly ball that neither the shortstop, second baseman, nor the center field was able to catch and Hererra scored tying the game at 3.
Macon took a lead in the 9th when Dorias Rojas hit a two-out single and he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. With Casey Garrison at the plate Marshall Plouffe unleashed a wild pitch that went all the way to the backstop. Rojas scored on the play from second base putting Macon up 4-3.
The Juice stormed back in the 9th when with two outs Eddie Kim walked and then Zach Woodward came in to pinch run for him at first base. The next batter Julius Thames hit a double to deep right field that scored Woodward tying the game at 4.
Bradenton capitalized on their opportunity in the Bottom of the 10th when Brenan Hererra led off with a single and Nick Corbeil followed by singling to center field. Up next pinch hitter Drew York was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With no outs and the bases loaded Macon manager Phil Plantier decided to bring his infield in and have 5 infielders and two outfielders with Willie James at the plate. James did not mind the defensive shift as he hit a walk-off single to center field that Hererra scored on giving the Juice a 5-4 win in 10 innings.
Luke Palmer started for the Juice going 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs (all earned) on 3 hits, walking 5 and striking out 4 batters.
Ross Stout started for Macon pitching 6 innings, allowing 2 runs (all earned) on 7 hits, walking 2 and striking out 7 Juice batters.
Marshall Plouffe (1-0) got the win for Bradenton pitching 2 innings, allowing a run (earned) on 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 2 Music batters.
Cesar Herrera (1-1) takes the loss for Macon after pitching an inning, allowing 2 runs (all earned) on 4 hits, walking 2 and striking out 1.
Of note for the Juice Julius Thames went 3-5 with 2 doubles, a single, and an RBI. Luke Barganier was 2-5 with 2 doubles and a run scored and Willie James went 2-6 with 2 singles, including the game winning walk-off hit in the 10th inning.
The win improves Bradenton's record in the second half to 9-6 and 33-26 overall while Macon falls to 6-7 in the second half and 36-22 overall.
Bradenton goes for the series win in the middle game of the series on Friday at 7:05 in Macon. The Juice will send RHP Rocky Collis to the mound and Macon will counter with RHP Ashley Hooks.
