
Juice Fall To Music In Extra Innings

Bradenton Juice News Release
Macon, GA- The Bradenton Juice went after its first ever win at Luther Williams Field on Friday night but it was not meant to be as the Juice lost 7-5 in 10 innings. Brian Gartley had a solid pitching performance for Bradenton and the Juice mustered 13 hits but it was not enough as Bradenton lost for the 5th straight time in Macon.
Bradenton started the scoring in the Bottom of the 1st with Julius Thames hitting a one-out single to center field. The next batter Eddie Kim doubled to left field scoring Thames and giving the Juice a 1-0 lead.
The Juice scored again in the 3rd when Luke Barganier led off the inning with a solo home run over the right field wall putting the Juice up 2-0.
The 4th inning was big for Macon as the Music scored 4 runs in the inning. KJ Hendricks led off with a walk and two batters later Dorian Rojas singled to left field driving in Hendricks cutting the Juice lead to 2-1. Scott Robinson followed with a single to right field and the next batter Ismael Castro reached base on an error that plated Rojas. Mike DeVeaux followed by drawing a walk and then Felipe Del Rosario grounded into a fielder's choice that brought home two runs, one of which scored because of a throwing error.
Trailing 4-2 in the 5th Bradenton scored again with Luke Barganier leading off with an infield single. The next batter Julius Thames singled to right field and Eddie Kim followed by grounding out to first base that plated a run for the Juice cutting the deficit to 4-3.
Bradenton tied up the ball game in the 7th inning with Luke Barganier leading off with a double to left field. Two batters later with the Music infield drawn-in Eddie Kim reached on an error by shortstop Mike DeVeaux that brought home Barganier tying the game at 4.
Macon took the lead in the Top of the 9th when Lafyette Brown smacked a single to center field that plated Ismael Castro.
In the Bottom of the 9th Bradenton did not give up as Luke Barganier hit a one-out infield single and Julius Thames followed with a single to left field. Two batters later Mikela Olsen came threw in the clutch with an RBI single to right field that drove home Barganier tying the game at 5.
In the Top of the 10th for Macon Dorian Rojas drew a one-out walk and Scott Robinson followed by drilling a 2-run homer over the right field wall giving the Music a 7-5 advantage that they would not relinquish.
Brian Gartley started for the Juice and he did not fare in the decision, going 6 innings allowing 4 runs, 2 earned, on 3 hits, walking 3 and striking out 7 batters. Steve Alverson (1-1) gets the loss for the Juice pitching 1 inning, allowing 2 runs (all earned), on 1 hit, walking 1 and striking out 1.
Rudy Quinonez (1-1) picks up the victory for Macon pitching the 9th and 10th innings allowing a run, it was earned, on 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 4.
Of note for the Juice the 1-3 batters went a combined 10-16 driving in 4 runs, scoring 5 runs and hitting two doubles and a home run. Luke Barganier went 5-6 with a double and a home run. The five hits in a game is a new Juice record. Julius Thames went 3-5 with three singles and Eddie Kim was 2-5 with a double and 3 RBI.
Bradenton loses its 4th straight game and they fall to 16-13 while Macon improves to 21-10.
The Juice look to salvage a win in the series finale on Saturday vs. the Music. RHP Lucas Palmer is scheduled to make his first start for Bradenton and he's going to face Macon RHP Ross Stout who has the 3rd best ERA in the South Coast League with a 2.23 ERA.
