Mississippi RiverKings News Release
DESOTO COUNTYâThe Jr. StreetKings are bringing the heat back to the street when the league opens for its first roller hockey session of the year on April 16.
The StreetKings, a youth roller hockey league that is organized and coached by Memphis RiverKings team captain Don Parsons, plays at the outdoor StreetKings arena located on the Hernando Civic Center property.
This spring session will be for experienced skaters only; however, Parsons will conduct clinics starting in July for inexperienced or new skaters.
"In the past year, we've been able to prepare a fair number of kids who are able to skate on a more competitive level," Parsons said. "Many of them started out in the camps last year and improved during the fall league. We are really excited about having this many experienced kids return. It will even things out for new kids who come in for the camps, too, because they will be with kids who are on their same level."
The Jr. StreetKings league practices and holds games over a 10-week period, and is conducted according to USA In-Line Hockey rules. Sign-ups end March 21. Required equipment includes a helmet with cage, elbow pads, shin guards, gloves, skates and a stick. Jerseys and pucks are provided. Cost is $150.
