Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC News Release
PITTSBURGH - Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC has hired experienced youth coach Josh Kremers to join the Riverhounds Development Academy staff as the club's Boys Regional League Director & Academy Scout.
In his new role, Kremers will oversee all aspects of the Boys ECNL Regional League teams, while also leading scouting efforts for the RDA with a focus on recruiting top talent and ensuring that players' educational and housing needs are met while playing for the club.
"I've known Josh for a long time and am excited for him to join our academy staff. I'm confident our players will benefit from his leadership as both a coach and director," Riverhounds Sporting Director Dan Visser said. "Additionally, he will lead our academy scouting efforts to identify and recruit top talent in Western Pennsylvania and throughout the United States at large."
Kremers comes to the Hounds after most recently serving as the Boys Director of Coaching with FC Carolinas. In addition to that role with the Charlotte-area club, he assisted with the club's USL League Two team and led FC Carolinas' women's team in the USL W League. Before joining FC Carolinas, Kremers coached four years with Indy Eleven, helping to build the club's USL Academy side that won the 2021 USL Academy title.
Kremers was as assistant with the Charlotte Eagles from 2017-18, winning the USL League Two title in his first year in that role. He also coached in the collegiate ranks as an assistant at NAIA schools Olivet Nazarene and Indiana Wesleyan.
Prior to coaching, Kremers played college soccer at Messiah College in Mechanicsburg, Pa., where he was a three-year starter as a defender for a team that won three NCAA Division III national championships in his four years from 2010-13. He completed his degree in accounting at Messiah and received his Master of Business Administration from Olivet Nazarene, and he holds a "B" Coaching License from the U.S. Soccer Federation.
With Kremers coming aboard as Boys Regional League Director, RDA coach and former Hounds All-USL player Kevin Kerr will be transitioning to a role as the Entry Level Boys Director, focusing on programming and support for players in the U8 through U12 ages. Kerr, who has been with the club since 2013 as a player and coach, will also continue is his role as Director of Fundamentals for the club.
