Jordan Gustafson and Kevin Korchinski Named to Team Canada U-17 Development Camp

KENT - Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Bil La Forge today announced center Jordan Gustafson and defenseman Kevin Korchinski have been named to Hockey Canada's virtual under-17 Development Camp for the 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

"We are excited Jordan and Kevin have been selected for the under-17 development camp," said La Forge. "We know this is an important step for them in their hockey development and we look forward to seeing them compete on a national stage."

Gustafson and Korchinski are two of the 113 players invited by Hockey Canada to the virtual development camp which takes place July 19 to July 25. The invitees include 12 goaltenders, 37 defensemen and 64 forwards that will be split into six teams for the week-long virtual camp, participating in a variety of sessions with a focus on player development through online education.

The 2020 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge is scheduled to take place from October 31 to November 7 in Charlottetown and Summerside, Prince Edward Island. Hockey Canada will field three teams at the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, the rosters of which will be determined at a future date.

Gustafson was selected by the T-Birds in the first round, eighth overall, in the 2019 Bantam Draft. Last season Gustafson played 29 games for the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers U18 team and had 11 goals and 21 assists for 31 points.

Gustafson signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement with the team on May 22, 2019. He made his T-Birds debut last season on December 13 against the Tri-City Americans.

Korchinski was selected by the T-Birds in the first round, 10th overall, in the 2019 Bantam Draft. Last season Korchinski played 41 games for the Saskatoon Contacts U18 team and had seven goals and 19 assists for 26 points.

Korchinski signed a WHL Standard Player Agreement on May 24, 2019. He made his T-Birds debut last season on November 16 against the Portland Winterhawks.
