Texas AirHogs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Joplin Blasters used 6 hits and 6 runs in the top half of the 3rd to down the AirHogs 7-1 Friday. The contest was delayed approximately 40 minutes between the 1st and the 2nd due to storms in the Grand Prairie area. David Wayne Russo started for the AirHogs, and after facing just 7 through 2, found trouble in the 3rd. The big inning was highlighted by a 3-RBI triple from Brandon Tierney and a 2-run home run by Matthew Martinez. The blast was the 1st of the season for Martinez.
The AirHogs got a run back in the top of the 4th after Brian Bistagne singled to lead off the frame and Michael Hur moved him to 3rd with a double. Devon Rodriguez picked up the RBI with a bounce out to short.
For the most part though, the AirHogs were held down by RHP Mario Morales, who held the team to just 5 hits and 1 run over 7 innings. The win was the first of his pro career for Morales. The loss for Russo, who lasted into the 7th, was his 3rd.
The AirHogs (28-50) and Blasters (27-50) meet again tomorrow at 7:05. RHP Diego Ibarra is expected to make his 2nd pro start.
