GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas - The Joplin Blasters got 3 hits from Edwin Gomez and 7 innings of 1-run ball from Alex De La Cruz to down the AirHogs 4-2 Saturday at AirHogs Stadium. Nick Akins reached 3 times and scored 1 run for Texas. Diego Ibarra started for the AirHogs and did well in his 2nd pro start. The righty from Riverside, CA surrendered just 2 runs on 7 hits over 6 innings. The AirHogs built an early lead for him in the bottom half of the 2nd on an RBI base hit from Cody Lenahan to score Akins and make it 1-0.

The Blasters struck back in the top of the 3rd on an RBI base hit by Will Soto and took the lead in the 6th. The visitors led off that frame with a triple by Gomez, who scored on an RBI single from Brandon Tierney to make it 2-1. Ibarra stranded men on the corners before turning the ball over to Cody Culp.

Joplin tagged Culp for 3 hits and 2 runs in the 7th, with Gomez and Geraldo Valentin picking up RBIs. Gomez and Alex Polston each finished with 3 hits in the game.

After the 2nd, the AirHogs had little luck against Joplin starter Alex De La Cruz. But they did tag Carlos Fuentes for a Brian Bistagne run (the 4th run of the series for the 2nd baseman) on an RBI base hit by Devon Rodriguez in the 9th. The team would leave 2 aboard vs. Keith Picht, who picked up the save in relief of Fuentes.

The win was the 2nd of the year for De La Cruz, the loss was the 2nd of the year for Ibarra, and the save the 1st of the year for Picht. The teams conclude the series tomorrow at 2:05. RHP Carlos Misell is expected to start for the AirHogs.
