SPRINGFIELD - Taylor Jones belted two home runs and plated five Wednesday night, leading the charge in an 11-4 triumph over Springfield before 3,322 fans at Hammons Field.

The Hooks (31-21), who secured a series victory, belted a season-best five dingers on the night. Corpus Christi has scored 22 runs on 31 hits in the first two games of the set.

Corpus Christi knocked Springfield starter Jake Woodford out of the game in the first. Jones and Randy Cesar accounted for the four runs with back-to-back longballs.

Cesar's solo shot extended his hitting streak to a Texas League best 22 games.

Rojas, who was a triple shy of the cycle, took lefty Ian McKinney deep to start the fifth.

Stephen Wrenn steamed a four-run seventh with a mammoth three-run homer off Colton Thompson. Wrenn missed the cycle by a triple.

Jones cleared the manual scoreboard in left field with his two-run clout in the eighth.

The Hooks cracked 18 knocks on the night, matching their season best. This included 10 extra-base hits.

Starter Corbin Martin stranded five over three frames before exiting the ballgame

Justin Ferrell worked three innings to earn the victory. The Cards got to him for three markers in the sixth, two coming on a home run by Thomas Spitz.

Erasmo Pinales, who struck out four in the seventh, and Riley Ferrell handled the final three innings. Riley Ferrell retired all four batters he faced.

The Hooks eye a series sweep Thursday night. Rehabbing St. Louis ace Carlos Martinez gets the ball for Springfield. Corpus Christi counters with lefty Cionel Perez (4-1, 1.88).
