
Joliet's Big Fourth Seals Deal in Florence Loss

JOLIET, Ill. - Despite getting out to a 3-0 lead, the Florence Y'alls gave up seven runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to the Joliet Slammers in a five-run loss at DuPage Medical Group Field on Saturday night.
With two outs in the fourth, a Carson Maxwell grand slam blew the game open against Y'alls starter Frank Valentino. All seven runs were earned in the inning following five hits and two walks.
Offensively, the Y'alls took an early lead in the first on a two-run home run from third baseman Chad Sedio, his 13th of the season. Catcher Trevor Craport and center fielder Connor Crane also added RBIs.
Pablo Arevalo came in with one out and a runner on third in the sixth and got out of the jam without allowing a run. In 1.2 innings of relief, Arevalo struck out two and retired all five batters he faced.
The four-game series continues on Sunday night at 5:05 CT with Edgar Martinez starting on the mound for the Y'alls
With Evansville's win over Schaumburg, Florence is now 2.5 games back of first place in the Frontier League West Division with eight games remaining in the regular season.
