Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
After Saturday's impressive win over the powerhouse, first place Alouettes, the Bombers are 7-9 and have won four of their last five games. The Blue Bombers next and last regular season home game is against the Hamilton Ti-Cats, Sunday November 8th at Noon.
The final two weeks of the CFL season proves to be electric and there is no doubt that Sunday, November 8th will be the deciding factor on how the playoff picture unfolds. With a Bomber victory, the Blue and Gold will host the Eastern semi-final the following Sunday.
The Bombers are peaking at the right time, led by quarterback Michael Bishop. Bishop had a breakout performance last week (411 yards, 17/33 2 TD, 1 INT) and had six competitions for 40 yards or more, while Terrence Edwards returned to form with six catches for 156 yards. The Bombers also got another special teams touchdown from Jovon Johnson on a 79 punt return. Johnson, who now has two kick return touchdowns in the past four games, won Special Teams Player of the Week again this week, the third time the cornerback has won the award this season. Johnson is on the verge of being an all-star this season for not only his special teams performance, but for his shutdown skills at the cornerback position.
The Bomber defence has also produced some rising young stars over the past month. The defensive line, anchored by Doug Brown, has seen the emergence of Odell Willis and Phillip Hunt. These two defensive ends combined for four sacks last Saturday, including back to back sacks, against a Montreal offensive line which has been among the league's best all season.
November 8th is also a very special game at Canad Inns Stadium, as the Blue Bombers salute our Armed Forces with a fly over prior to kickoff and a colour guard ceremony. Half Time will feature a Military Obstacle course with the Navy, Army and Air Force competing against each other.
Get to Canad Inns Stadium early and receive an exclusive 'BLUE OUT' rally towel.
All Fans are encouraged to wear Blue to be part of the 'BLUE OUT'. Fans dressed in blue will have a chance to win prize packages from the Bomber Store.
