Bryant Named Offensive Player Of The Week

The Calgary Stampeders are pleased to announce that import receiver Romby Bryant has been named the Canadian Football League's offensive player of the week for his efforts in Week 17.
Bryant continued to find his form with the Stamps, catching nine passes for 211 yards last Friday against Edmonton. Both totals were career bests for Bryant who now has 22 catches for 392 yards since joining Calgary via a trade with Winnipeg on Sept. 20, 2009. The 211 receiving yards was the fourth highest total in Stampeders history and marked the first time a member of the Red and White has surpassed the 200-yard mark receiving since Darnell McDonald had a 210-yard effort against Saskatchewan on July 19, 2003. Bryant has 42 catches for 624 yards in 2009 after recording 65 grabs for 1,206 yards and nine scores in 2008.
Stamps quarterback Henry Burris was the runner-up for the offensive player of the week honours in Week 17.
This marks the seventh time a Stampeders player has been recognized this season as part of the CFL's weekly awards. Linebacker Dwaine Carpenter earned defensive player of the week honours in Week 3 while Jim Davis received defensive accolades in Week 11. Receiver Jeremaine Copeland was named the offensive player of the week in Weeks 7 and 11 while Nik Lewis was bestowed the honour in Week 9. Returner Titus Ryan was named the special teams player of the week for his efforts in Week 9. The Stampeders had nine players receive player-of-the-week recognition in 2008.
