John Carlson Named To AHL All-Rookie Team

HERSHEY - The 2009 Calder Cup Champion HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that defenseman John Carlson has been named to the 2009-10 AHL All-Rookie Team. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Carlson, 20, has scored four goals and assisted on 35 others in 48 games played for HERSHEY this season. He joined the BEARS last spring, playing in 16 postseason games in helping the team win the 2009 Calder Cup. Carlson, currently on recall to the Washington Capitals, is also a +37 this season while wearing a HERSHEY uniform. With the Capitals, he has skated in 20 games, recording his first pro goal March 25 against the Carolina Hurricanes.

The BEARS face the Syracuse Crunch Wednesday night at the Onondaga County War Memorial at 7:00 p.m. before traveling to Rochester Friday night to take on the Americans at 7:05 p.m. HERSHEY returns home to face Syracuse Saturday at Giant Center.
