
Florida Panthers Call For Taffe; Amerks Bring Back Hartlieb

(Rochester, NY)... Rochester Americans Vice President of Hockey Operations Ted Nolan announced today that the Florida Panthers have recalled forward *Jeff Taffe*. In a related move, the Amerks have also brought back forward *Ernie Hartlieb *on a 25-game professional tryout.
Taffe, 29, departed Grand Rapids earlier this morning and will join the Panthers in Western New York tonight for their National Hockey League contest against the Buffalo Sabres. Faceoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. at HSBC Arena. A native of Hastings, Minnesota, Taffe rejoins the big club for the seventh time this season where he has one assist in 18 NHL games with the Panthers. Originally a first-round selection (30th overall) by the St. Louis Blues in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, the eighth-year pro currently ranks first on the team with 26 goals and third with 54 points in 58 American Hockey League contests with the Amerks this season. In his pro career, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound forward has collected 350 points (155+195) and 352 penalty minutes in 557 games.
Hartlieb returns for his third stint this season with the Amerks as he joins Rochester tonight in its bid to secure a berth in the 2010 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Amerks do battle with the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Van Andel Arena, and with a win, will clinch a spot in the playoffs, snapping a two-year absence from postseason play. The matchup will be the fifth of six scheduled meetings between the two teams this season and will be carried live on SportsRadio 1280 WHTK and FM 107.3, Rochester's Sports Talk. Rochester is 2-2-0-0 this season against Grand Rapids, including a 1-0-0-0 mark on the road, and is 19-22-3 all-time against the Detroit Red Wings' affiliate.
A native of Warren, Michigan, the 30-year-old has left winger has scored 12 goals and 26 assists for 38 points in 61 games this season with Florida Everblades of the ECHL. In eight games this season with the Amerks, Hartlieb has recorded four points (2+2). A member of the Everblades since the 2004-05 season, the 6-foot-2, 210-pound forward has tallied 63 points (26+37) in 141 career AHL games with Worcester (IceCats), Lowell (Lock Monsters), Grand Rapids and Rochester.
