Jets to Honor Bob Suter

September 12, 2014 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Janesville Jets News Release

(Janesville) The Janesville Jets, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), will wear stickers on their helmets honoring former US Olympian Bob Suter this weekend in the SOO and also at the NAHL Showcase next week in Blaine, Minnesota. Suter passed away on Tuesday at the age of 57 from an apparent heart attack.

"Bob Suter has made immeasurable contributions to the game of hockey during his lifetime. Bob and his teammates on the Miracle on Ice 1980 Olympic hockey club shocked the world by winning the gold medal in Lake Placid. Their victory over the Soviet Union was perhaps the greatest sports achievement in US history, said Jets President Bill McCoshen. Bob Suter's post-Olympic achievements were even more significant for the game of hockey in the state of Wisconsin in general and Madison in particular. Bob ran the Madison Capitols AAA program which has benefited thousands of young male and female players over the past 30 years. The Janesville Jets are proud to honor Bob Suter's memory and his unending effort to give back to the game he loved."

The Jets open the regular season tonight in Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
