Stockton Ports News Release
STOCKTON, Calif. - The Lancaster JetHawks avoided being swept on Friday night at Banner Island Ballpark. Lancaster scored nine runs in the top of the first inning on its way to an 11-0 win over the Stockton Ports to close out a three-game series.
Ports starter Brady Feigl (5-5) was in trouble early as the JetHawks opened the scoring in the top of the first as Sean Bouchard doubled to score Matt Hearn and give the JetHawks a 1-0 lead. Ramon Marcelino followed with a sac-fly to right and Taylor Snyder singled to center to make it 3-0. Austin Bernard added an RBI single as did LJ Hatch to make it 5-0. After Matt Hearn reached on an error committed by right fielder Nico Giarratano that allowed a sixth run to score, Ryan Vilade singled to bring in two more runs and stretch the JetHawks lead to 8-0. After Bouchard came up again and singled to right-center drive in another run, Feigl was lifted for Jake Bray, who gave up an RBI single to Ramon Marcelino to make it a 9-0 contest.
Feigl would suffer the loss, going two-thirds of an inning and allowing nine runs (five earned) on eight hits.
JetHawks starter Ryan Rolison (3-6) kept Stockton's offense at bay over six scoreless innings, allowing two hits while walking two and striking out six. Robert Tyler and Hayden Roberts combined to toss three innings of scoreless relief to close out the ballgame.
The JetHawks added two more runs in the fourth as Austin Bernard hit a two-run homer to left off Ports reliever Will Gilbert to make it 11-0. Those were the only two runs allowed by the Stockton bullpen, which combined for 8 1/3 innings of relief. Jake Bray, Wandisson Charles and Nick Highberger all pitched for the Ports and did not allow a run.
Jeremy Eierman went 1-for-4 to extend his hit streak to 12 games.
After taking two of three from the JetHawks, the Ports welcome the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes to Banner Island Ballpark on Saturday to begin a three-game series. Mitchell Jordan (7-5, 4.57 ERA) makes the start for Stockton, opposed by Rancho Cucamonga left-hander Leo Crawford (4-4, 3.03 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. PDT.
