Inland Empire 66ers News Release

Lancaster, CA- The Lancaster JetHawks rode a six-run bottom of the fourth inning and added a pair of insurance runs late to down the Inland Empire 66ers 8-4. The loss was the Sixers fifth straight defeat.

After 3 perfect innings to open the game from Lancaster starter Austin Chrismon the Sixers got on the board in the fourth. Bo Way bunted and reached on a two-base throwing error by the catcher. Mike Fish singled Way to third and Eric Aguilera gave the 66ers a 1-0 lead with a sac fly. Chrismon allowed the unearned run but nothing else until the seventh.

Victor Alcantara (6-11) was strong through three on the mound for Inland Empire but had a rough fourth inning. Chase McDonald took a leadoff walk and Ronnie Mitchell followed with a line-shot homer to right to immediately capture a 2-1 lead. It was Mitchell's 12th homer of the year. The JetHawks would bat around in the frame and put up six runs on four hits in the inning including a RBI triple by James Ramsay. Alcantara survived the inning and went on to toss two scoreless frames after that but the damage was done. He allowed six runs on seven hits with three walks and three Ks in six innings.

The 66ers finally got to Chrismon (6-3) in the seventh. Aguilera tagged a leadoff homer for the Sixers, his 15th of the year to make it 6-2. Brandon Bayardi and Kody Eaves then hit back-to-back triples to make it 6-3 and Roberto Baldoquin's RBI ground out made it 6-4. Inland Empire would get no closer as reliever Michael Freeman came in and got out of the jam.

The JetHawks scored an insurance run in the seventh on Mitchell's RBI double and another in the eighth on a Ramsay RBI single. Lancaster's Sean McMullen had three hits for the second straight game. Bayardi had the 66ers (58-62, 23-27) lone multi-hit game. Lancaster improved to 62-59 overall and 25-26 in the second half.

The series concludes on Wednesday at 6:30 pm. It can be heard live at 66ers.com.
