Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD, March 27, 2013 - The Utah Jazz today signed Bakersfield Jam guard Jerel McNeal for the 30th GATORADE Call-Up of the 2012-13 NBA Development League season. He joins 122 players with NBA D-League experience currently on NBA rosters.

McNeal (6-3, 200, Marquette) has appeared in 44 games for Bakersfield this season and is averaging 18.1 points, 5.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 30.3 minutes. He has scored at least 20 points in 17 games this season, including a season-high 42 points in a 109-102 victory over Fort Wayne on Feb 10.

"Jerel has been the MVP of our league and really deserves this opportunity," said Jam Head Coach Will Voigt.

McNeal, a member of the Prospects roster at the 2013 NBA D-League All-Star Game, was acquired by Bakersfield after spending training camp with the Toronto Raptors. He was signed by the New Orleans Hornets in March 2011, but didn't appear in a game. McNeal was the Big East's Defensive Player of the Year in 2006-07, and an Associated Press Second Team All-American in 2008-09 at Marquette.

McNeal is expected to join the Jazz today and be available when the team hosts former Jam assignee Kendall Marshall and the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday at EnergySolutions Arena.
