HIDALGO, Texas, March 27, 2013 - Oklahoma City Thunder assignees DeAndre Liggins and Daniel Orton combined for 43 points and 23 rebounds, but the Tulsa 66ers fell to Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 118-105, on Wednesday night at State Farm Arena in Hidalgo, Texas.
Orton picked up his ninth double-double with the 66ers this season, posting 25 points and 12 rebounds along with a pair of blocked shots. Fellow Thunder assignee DeAndre Liggins had 18 points, 11 boards and eight assists.
All five Tulsa starters scored 15 or more points, including Tony Taylor with 21. Rasual Butler added 16 points and four rebounds.
Andy Rautins (15 points) sunk three 3-pointers to move into second place in NBA D-League history for the most 3-point field goals in one season with a total of 140. Rautins is now three makes shy of the record 143 set by Blake Ahearn (2008-09, Austin/Dakota).
The 66ers shot 11-for-26 (.423) from 3-point range, making 11 or more 3's for the third game in a row.
Tulsa (25-20) dished out 24 assists while outrebounding the Vipers 44-41.
The Vipers (31-15) were led by Andrew Goudelock's 42 points that included eight 3-pointers.
With five games remaining in the regular season, the 66ers will face the Austin Toros in a home-and-home series on Friday and Saturday night. After facing off in Austin on Friday night, the 66ers host the Toros on Saturday at the SpiritBank Event Center for Thunder Affiliate Night.
