
Reed's Late Jumper Sinks Charge

Willie Reed nailed a 15-foot fadeaway jumper with 0.6 seconds left that pushed the Springfield Armor past the Canton Charge, 110-108, at the MassMutual Center on Wednesday night. The loss dropped Canton to 27-19 on the season, while they hold a 3.5 game lead in the East Division with four left to play, and Springfield improved their record to 18-27.
The Charge pulled ahead 28-27 after a first quarter that featured five lead changes and both teams hitting over 50% of their attempts from the field. The offensive pace continued in the second with seven more lead changes and five ties as each team scored 30 points and the Charge took a 58-57 advantage into the intermission.
The two teams again kept the game close throughout the third quarter, each scoring 26 points as Canton led 84-83 heading into the game's final 12 minutes. The Charge hit 61% of shots in the third quarter, but the Armor forced six turnovers for seven points to keep competing.
Canton led by five points with 3:05 left in the fourth, but the Armor began to lock down on defense. The Charge were up 108-103 when Springfield forced eight-consecutive misses on a 7-0 run that concluded with Reed's game-winner. Canton will finish with the 5-4 edge in the season series between the two teams.
Ryan Rossiter came off the bench to lead Canton with a season-high 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting with five rebounds in 19 minutes. Arinze Onuaku notched his third-consecutive double-double by netting 13 points with 10 boards and one block in 26 minutes. Antoine Agudio registered his first career double-double in his third D-League season with 12 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds in 38 minutes. The Charge as a team dished out 31 assists to tie a franchise record, set in double overtime in a win over Rio Grande Valley last season.
Dominique Jones scored a game-high 24 points with five rebounds, three assists and three steals in 33 minutes. Reed finished with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes. Kris Joseph added 16 points on 7-of-13 shooting with five rebounds and two steals in 32 minutes. Seven Armor players scored in double figures, with 44 points coming from off the bench. Both teams shot over 50% from the field for the game, Springfield hitting 52% of shots while Canton went 51%
