Washington, D.C. (August 14, 2014) - D.C. United has announced that defender Jeff Parke has undergone outpatient surgery on his left inner ear to address a peri lymphatic fistula. Surgery was performed by neuro-otologist Dr. Jeffrey Kim at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C. The timetable for Parke's return is still uncertain.

United acquired Parke on Jan. 14, 2014, from the Philadelphia Union in exchange for homegrown defender Ethan White. The teams also swapped allocation rankings.

"We are pleased that Jeff has undergone successful surgery on his inner ear and we are hopeful that he is able to return to full participation in the near future," said D.C. Untied General Manager Dave Kasper.

The Abington, Pa., native started the first 13 games for the Black-and-Red, anchoring the defense alongside veteran Bobby Boswell, before being sidelined with an ankle injury, which gave way to migraines and vertigo for the past 10 weeks. In 10 seasons in Major League Soccer, Parke has appeared in 254 games (247 starts) and has recorded two goals and six assists.
