Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Wednesday that midfielder Jean-Aniel Assi has been loaned to Atlético Ottawa of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) for the 2023 season. The Club reserves the right to recall the player at any time.
Assi also signed a new agreement including an additional option year in 2025, following a previously guaranteed year in 2023 and one option year in 2024.
The 18-year-old player will return to competitive action in the CPL having spent the 2022 season on loan in Calgary with Cavalry FC. During his loan spell, Assi played 19 games and 789 minutes of play.
Born in Adzopé, Ivory Coast, Assi signed his first professional contract with the first team in December 2020, after joining the Academy in 2017. On December 15, 2020, against Club Olimpia of Honduras in Concacaf Champions League play, Assi became the youngest player to have played minutes with the Club's first team, at 16 years and 125 days old.
He has also played with Canada's U15 squad and U20 team, playing three games in the 2022 Concacaf U20 Championship, in June.
Transaction: Jean-Aniel Assi is loaned to Atlético Ottawa for the 2023 season.
