Dunedin Blue Jays News Release

DUNEDIN, FL - On a night where the stands were filled up with canines, it was RHP Brandon Woodruff (4-1) who K'ed 10, tying a career best and helping the Brevard County Manatees (12-24) beat the Dunedin Blue Jays (15-21) on Saturday night. Woodruff and Jays' starter RHP Justin Shafer each got through six innings allowing just two hits without a run.

1B Ryan McBroom ended Woodruff's night on a sour note when he hit a two-run home run in the seventh, but the Manatees four-run top half was enough to give them a 7-2 victory in the end. The Manatees got to LHP Aaron Loup (L, 0-1) in the seventh who was making a rehab start for Dunedin. Loup allowed a pair of base hits and a pair of walks while recording one out. DH Fidel Pena's RBI-single started the scoring. Pena collected run-scoring singles in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings to help Brevard County. LHP Matt Dermody relieved Loup and promptly gave up a two-run double to LF Brandon Diaz, making it a 3-0 game.

Shafer's outing tied the longest of the year for Dunedin pitching. His six innings were quick and efficient in his second start since coming off the DL. He has now allowed two hits over his last 10.1 frames. RHP Adonys Cardona allowed his first runs of the year in the eighth, snapping a 12.1 inning scoreless streak.

The final game of this series is Sunday at 1:00 pm. Dunedin looks to even the series at two with RHP Conner Greene on the mound. He'll face off against LHP Kodi Medeiros for Brevard.
