
Jaxx Drop Game Three to Biscuits

JACKSON, TENN. (JUNE 19, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (26-42) were stymied at the plate by Heath Rollins (6-5) and the Montgomery Biscuits (32-36) Friday night and drop game three, 4-1. Rollins retired the first nine Jaxx hitters that he faced and allowed just one run over six innings. Matt Mangini and Marshall Hubbard led the Jaxx Friday night by each going 2-for-4 at the plate. The Biscuits lead the series now two games to one.
It was the Biscuits that jumped on top first Friday night. In the top of the first, Matt Fields drove in Brandon Chavez with a one-handed double down the left field line. Chavez picked up a one out walk with one out. The Biscuits led 1-0 after the first.
Montgomery was at again against Jaxx starter, Luis Munoz in the third. Matt Fields picked up his second RBI in the game with a single bringing in Desmond Jennings. Cesar Suarez knocked his third homer of the season with two outs in the inning, giving the Biscuits a 4-0 lead. All of the Biscuits runs in the game came with two outs.
Luis Munoz (2-3), who took the loss, left the game after just four innings of work on the mound. In the four innings, Munoz gave up four runs on six hits while striking out two and walking one. He turned the ball over to lefty, Danny Christensen for his first relief appearance of the season. Christensen dealt four scoreless innings, scattering two hits. He struck out three batters in his first relief appearance since 2007.
The Jaxx avoided a shutout Friday night as Mel Stocker delivered a sacrificed fly in the bottom of the seventh inning. Matt Mangini and David Espinosa each singled to begin the inning. Espinosa has now hit in his last four consecutive games.
Games four and five are a part of a scheduled double-header on Saturday night at Pringles Park, beginning at 5:05. RHP Justin Souza (4-6, 3.40) and RHP Steven Shell (1-0, 2.25) will each start on Saturday night for the Jaxx. In a decision on Saturday will decide which game they will start. RHP Aneury Rodriguez (3-8, 6.52) takes the ball in game one for the Biscuits and RHP Brian Baker (3-1, 3.71) starts in game two.
