Jason Alfaro Joins Buffalo Bisons

The Buffalo Bisons today announced that infielder Jason Alfaro has been activated to the team's roster. Alfaro, who started the 2006 season with the Triple-A Indianapolis Indians, was signed as a free agent by the Cleveland Indians and assigned to the Herd. To make room on the roster, RHP Travis Foley was optioned to Double-A Akron,

Alfaro, 29, hit 198 (18-91) with three doubles, three home runs and eight RBI in 27 games with Indianapolis this year. Two of his homers came in the same game as he went 4-5 with two RBI and two runs scored on May 9 against Charlotte.

Alfaro spent the entire 2005 season at Triple-A Syracuse where he hit .247 (94-381) with 10 home runs and 45RBI. He finished the year T3rd on team in doubles (24), T4th in HR (10), 5th in games (105), 6th in RBI (45) and 7th in hits (94).

Foley has had two, one-game stints with the Bisons this year. He pitched 3.1 shutout innings on Tuesday in Buffalo's 5-4, 10-inning win over Toledo. With the Akron Aeros this season, he is 2-2 with a 2.55ERA and one save in 17 games (35.1IP, 29H, 10R, 10ER, 11BB, 33K).
