Jamestown Jammers News Release

AUBURN, N.Y. - Starting pitchers Greg Nappo and Wirkin Estevez dueled for five

innings, but the Jammers roughed up the Auburn bullpen for eight runs in the final three innings to earn the team's third straight win, 8-4, at Falcon Park Saturday night.

Nappo, who was making his second start for Jamestown, was perfect through five innings

as he retired all 15 batters that he faced, while Estevez was nearly as good allowing just four hits in six shutout innings with seven strikeouts.

However, both bullpens struggled in the opening contest at Falcon Park as the Jamestown

offense had 12 runners reach base in from the seventh inning on to stay a game in front of Mahoning Valley for first place in the Pinckney Division.

The Doubledays would strike first after Miguel Mejia came on to relieve Nappo. In his

Jamestown debut, Mejia gave up a RBI triple to Hendry Jimenez and threw a wild pitch to allow two runs to score to put the Doubledays up 2-0.

It looked like Estevez would be in line to earn the victory with the Jammers' offense

struggling, but Jamestown stormed back immediately once Auburn made the call to the bullpen. Ryan McIntyre reached on an error and stole second base with one out to start the Jamestown offense in the seventh. Josh Adams walked then Yefri Perez slapped a single to left to get Jamestown on the board. A pair of walks loaded the bases and forced in another run before Austin Barnes ripped a three-run double to center to put the purple and green up three.

Chase Wier would keep the Doubledays off the board in bottom of seventh, and Jobduan

Morales ripped a solo home run in the top of the eighth to extend the Jamestown advantage.

Barnes and Brent Keys, who extended his hitting streak to 10 games, both had singles to

start the ninth inning. Back-to-back walks pushed across another run and Adams hit a sacrifice fly to center to make it 8-2 Jamestown.

Auburn would plate two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but, with the tying run at

the plate, Angelberth Montilla lined out to end the game.

Barnes led the offense with two singles and a double including three RBI and a run

scored. Perez added a pair of singles and five other Jammers picked up a base hit.
