Tigers Fall 3-2 In Series Opener With Brooklyn

NORWICH, CT - The Connecticut Tigers suffered a tough-luck 3-2 loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Cyclones on Saturday night at Dodd Stadium.

The Tigers jumped on top early in the second inning. After Dean Green led off the frame with a base hit, Jeff Holm knocked his second home run in as many games with a two-run shot to right field, putting Connecticut on top 2-0.

Ismael Tijerina started off the fifth inning with a single for Brooklyn, followed by a base hit from Chase Greene to put runners on first and second. Danny Muno then came through with a two-run double to right-center field to tie the game at two.

The Cyclones would break the tie in the eighth inning. Richard Lucas started the frame off with a double down the left field line. He moved up to third on a groundout by Brian Harrison and came in to score the go-ahead run on an RBI base hit from Travis Taijeron, giving Brooklyn a 3-2 lead.

Cory Mazzoni, Tyson Seng and Jeremy Gould held the Tigers hitless over the final three innings to preserve Cyclones win.

The Tigers will play game two of the three-game series against the Cyclones tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is set for 1:05 PM at Dodd Stadium.
