Jammers Rout Tigers to Stay in First Place

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Three Jammers pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout and the offense exploded in a 14-0 victory over the Connecticut Tigers.

Josh Hodges started for the first time since July 21st and allowed three walks in four innings of work. Kenny Toves followed and pitched two innings in relief, allowing just one base runner on an error. Toves picked up the victory to move to 3-1.

Grant Dayton finished the game with three innings of relief. He allowed a one-out single in the top of the seventh before shutting down the Tigers the rest of the way. He earned his first save of the season.

Jamestown supported the trio of pitchers from the beginning, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first. Noah Perio singled in a run to make it 1-0 and Marcell Ozuna hit a three-run home run on the next pitch.

The Jammers added two in the fifth on Ryan Fisher's two-run home run and three in the sixth on doubles by Perio and Ozuna. Jamestown scored five runs in the seventh to close the scoring.

Perio finished the night 4-for-5 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Ozuna went 3-for-6 with six RBIs.

The Jammers remain 0.5 games up in first place after the Williamsport Crosscutters won earlier in the day. Jamestown now plays a three-game series against the Vermont Lake Monsters, beginning on Friday, August 13th at 7:05 pm. The game can be heard live on JamestownJammers.com.
